Adolf Hitler gab seinen Entschluss zu diesem Angriffskrieg dem Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (OKW) am 31. Juli 1940 bekannt und befahl am 18. Dezember 1940, ihn bis Mai 1941 unter dem Decknamen „Unternehmen Barbarossa" militärisch vorzubereiten. Um für die „arische Herrenrasse" „Lebensraum im Osten" zu erobern und den „jüdischen Bolschewismus" zu vernichten, sollten große Teile der sowjetischen Bevölkerung vertrieben, versklavt und getötet werden.

 This video - a request - features the Duch Ramblers dance orchestra with singer Tohama (1920-95). Tohama was a tremendously popular singer in Belgium during the 1940s, 50s and 1960s.... She was born Neuilly sur Seine in 1920 as Nadia Altman. She was the daughter of the painter Alexandre Altman who died in 1932. After his death the family moved to Brussels where Nadia started working in a posh boutique where she sang all day long, much to the pleasure of her co-workers who urged her to go to stage... She made her first recordings in 1937 for the Regina and Silver Bell labels and Nadia Altman became Tohama - Tahitian for "I love you". One of her first recordings being the French version of " Zarah Leander's Der Wind hat mir ein Lied erzählt" - a record that is almost impossible to find these days. One of her biggest succeses was "Tu m'apprendras" which was written for her in 1942 and of which she recorded several versions (in France it was sung by Eliane Célis - another Belgian and Assia de Busny). After the war Tohama recorded with Fud Candrix and the Ramblers and became an even more popular singer. It is almost impossible not to find a record of hers at fleamarkets.... She died in 1995. S. was to achieve for courage and resource in adversity was in large part due to Dietrich, who, while lacking the strategic genius of Rommel or Manstein, proved himself tactically adept and an exemplary commander of men.He proved too, to be a man receptive to new ideas. As a man who had come through the ranks, he was the epitome of a soldier's soldier, adored by his men, feared but respected by his enemies.As the head of his personal bodyguard, Sepp Dietrich was an old friend of Adolf Hitler as well as a loyal and trusted party comrade. In 1944 Hitler gave Dietrich command of three armies for a German counter-offensive in the West. Despite his failure to achieve a decisive victory in what became known as the Battle of the Bulge, Dietrich's attack shocked the Allies and greatly damaged American morale.In 1945 Dietrich led the 6th S.S. Many researchers believe it was the conflict over the Sudetenland that triggered World War II.
